Christina Pfeiffer
From Sydney, Australia

"I've always been immensely interested in writing & photography and have always loved travelling. After being retrenched from a corporate position in telecommunications and software, the opportunity presented itself when I stumbled upon this course on the internet. I ordered the course online and downloaded it straightaway. It has exceeded all expectations. Six weeks into the course, I published my first travel article. A couple of weeks later, I had published half a dozen articles and earned thousands of dollars.

To date, my articles have been published in 30 different titles worldwide, including the prestigious Tatler society magazine.

I am now also able to consistently secure sponsored trips of my choosing, to both national and international destinations.

I'm really impressed with the quality of the information in this course. I'm sure this course has saved me years of trial and error."

Gail Simmons
From England

“I found The Complete Travel Writer course after an internet search, and was immediately impressed by Steve and Eileen's willingness to answer dozens of probing questions about the course before I even parted with a penny (or cent). I felt that they were genuinely concerned to help their protégés get started in travel journalism, and so I signed up. To me, this is unheard of! I have never encountered authors of such professional ability that are willing to take the time to help budding writers on their way to becoming published.

The excellent course material has more than exceeded my expectations.
This course is my handbook - nay, my Bible. Now, a year later, I am now a published travel journalist, with articles in some of the UK 's best-known national papers - and more in the pipeline.

I know I could not have done it without the Complete Travel Writer course. Thanks Steve and Eileen.”

From Perth, Australia

"The Complete Travel Writer course opened my eyes to a world of
publishing possibilities, ultimately extending the scope of my knowledge
and abilities and showing me the way to true professionalism in travel
journalism.

Above all, this course made me realise that travel journalism is about much more than writing alone. The need to provide quality photography is paramount, and the commercial skills of running a freelance journalism business have to be either learned over years of tough hoop-jumping, or else acquired via some good, honest, revealing information.

I'm glad I chose the latter option!"

Angela Murphy
From Australia

"I took this course because I was keen to interact with like-minded people and gain skills in the art of travel writing. After years of creative and curriculum writing, I was comfortable putting words on a page but lacked the know-how to create a package that would tantalise a publisher.

The Complete Travel Writer Course Download gave me the insight and encouragement to develop an end-product that would, as Steve puts it, ''knock a publisher's socks off'.
I sent my first article to the Brisbane Sunday Mail (sealed with a kiss) and two weeks later it was published as a double page spread in the 'Escape' section. Now, I am selling articles consistently.

I have and will continue to recommend this course to anyone who is serious about having articles published.

Kate Richards
From Queensland, Australia

"Prior to this course I was fortunate to have had some articles published (although mainly through an erratic hit & miss method) but I still had no idea how to make any real money out of the world of travel writing. The Complete Travel Writer Course showed me the light – how to market myself, how to write a ‘real’ query letter, how to think in multiples, how to focus on ‘dream’ destinations (think Antarctica & think ice diving) and ultimately saved me years of trial and error – catapulting me into the world of freelance travel journalism! This course is full of great info and great advice and will suit anyone that wants to bridge the gap between written work and published work."

Bridget Martin
From Australia

For many years I have been writing articles as part of my job but had often wondered how freelance journalists get their stuff published. How do you approach editors and how to present your work? I wanted to test myself. In July 2002, I decided to take Offbeatrips' online travel writing and photography course. With years of experience behind them, Steve and Eileen have it all worked out and, thank goodness, they were willing to share their knowledge with me.

During the course I learned how to angle the content of articles, how to get the best out of my photographs and how to package the results for editors. "Yes, I can do this," was my predominant thought as I progressed through the course. I have now had 15 articles published, one of them twice, with various publications showing interest in a number of others. It's a great feeling to see your name in print!

"The razor-sharp and bulletproof information in this course helped me get my Mongolia pictures on the cover and in a Double Page Spread in Australia's largest circulation daily newspaper, Melbourne's Herald Sun - first try! Then, as if that wasn't enough, a magazine called 'The Professional' ran the same story - with another cover shot to my credit.

Now I'm learning how to spread my travel writing wings, and getting articles published regularly."

"I have always dreamed of becoming a travel writer, so decided to buy The Complete Travel Writer course on CD-rom after attending one of Steve's university lectures. I'm so glad I did. The solid, professional steps laid out in this course laid the foundation for my first ever published travel article - "Jurassic Lake" - sold to the Brisbane Sunday Mail and get this - I made cover and a centrespread!

I could not have done it without this course, and for that I am truly grateful. I cannot think of a higher accolade than that for the virtues of The Complete Travel Writer course.

"Steve's "on the ground" experience in travel writing has taken him across the globe and in this course he imparts his knowledge with an energy and enthusiasm which is infectious. About 18 years ago, I had some travel writing published and then let things slip by giving up too soon. Steve has got me back on track.

If you are thinking of starting out, his up to date knowledge of the travel writing market and current photo handling technology is just what you need. He can give you the broad spectrum of information required for success. My first article this year was a centre fold on the trip to Britain I took late last year, with full colour photos and an entry on the Internet! If "the proof of the pudding is in the eating", the proof of Steve's course is in the publishing. I have read no end of books on travel writing, but only this one delivers all of the information that's necessary to succeed. I salute Steve and Eileen for truly giving of themselves in this utterly complete manual of travel journalism.

From Australia

"Contrary to the adage, old dogs can be taught new tricks ... if the teacher truly knows the ins & outs and intricacies of his subject and possesses the communication skills to impart the knowledge to his students. Steve Rothwell is such a master when it comes to Travel Writing. He assuredly holds the key that can open doors for would-be travel writers.

A veteran newshound and wizened hack, I took his course out of professional curiosity and to help prepare for prospective - and well remunerated - travel excursions. I was enlightened, and entertained, well in excess of expectations. I would urge all wannabe travel writers to enrol in this course before they take their first tentative steps."

Stephen Rothwell contacted me - out of the blue - in January 2000, proposing a series of feature articles about my adventure tours.

He had already secured air ticket support from Aeroflot, and based on his positive track record I agreed to sponsor his ground arrangements.

Stephen came to Kamchatka in April 2000 with the promise of at least five published articles in US, Australian and Asian newspapers and magazines that we had both agreed upon.

In the end, he came through with nine articles! I invited Stephen back to Kamchatka in August 2000 and he wrote another series of articles based on the different activities he experienced in a different season.

Altogether, Stephen has published 31 articles based on his two trips to Kamchatka, and he is still writing them! It is my experience that Stephen Rothwell will, literally, go to the ends of the earth to get the most and the best coverage for his sponsors.
